Melanie Thompson, MPH

Melanie Thompson is a Program Officer for Non-Infectious Disease Programs at the CDC Foundation. She has a background in public health research, program management, and community engagement with a focus on social determinants of health. Before joining the CDC Foundation, she was a Senior Program Associate for Engagement at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) where she managed the Pipeline to Proposal Awards which funded capacity building to help communities engage in health research. Before joining PCORI, Thompson managed the Osteoarthritis (OA) Action Alliance, a national coalition of more than 40 patient and health advocacy organizations, at the Arthritis Foundation. She coordinated the coalition’s activities, assisted working groups in the implementation of OA prevention and management projects, and developed new partnerships for the coalition.  Thompson received her B.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology and her MPH with a focus on Health Policy and Management from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University.
