Maria Elena Medina-Mora, PhD, MA

Dr. Medina-Mora is the General Director for the National Institute on Psychiatry de la Fuente Muniz in Mexico. She is currently a member of the National System of Researchers and a member of the Board of Directors at the National Autonomous University in Mexico. Dr. Medina-Mora is a full researcher of the National Institutes of Health and Chief Direction of Epidemiological and Social Research of the National Institute of Psychiatry. In addition, Dr. Medina-Mora has served as temporal advisor for the World Health Organization and the Pan-American Health Organization since 1976, she is a member of the World Health Organization Expert Committee on Addictions since 1986 and member of the International Narcotics Control Board Since 2000. Dr. Medina-Mora's areas of interest are methodologic, psychosocial, and epidemiological issues as they relate to addictions and mental health. She earned her B.A. and M.A. in psychology at Iberoamerican University, and her Ph.D in social psychology at the National Autonomous University.
