Alisa Takeda, DO, MPH is an osteopathic internist providing primary care at Asian Health Services. She was born in Osaka, Japan but grew up in the Bay Area. After completing an undergraduate degree at UC San Diego, she received DO and MPH degrees from Touro University in Vallejo, California. Alisa gained the majority of her experience with addiction medicine and social impacts on health through an internal medicine residency at Alameda County’s Highland Hospital in Oakland, California. She spent a fourth year as chief resident mentoring and organizing residents as well as developing a resident palliative care curriculum. Alisa’s personal interactions with mental health and addiction as well as her formal training has shaped her approach to care for people with substance use and mental health disorders. Alisa is now a lead clinician on the medication-assisted treatment team at Asian Health Services aimed to strengthen and expand screening and treatment for substance use disorder in primary care of Asian-American and Asian immigrant populations.
